Let $(R,\mathfrak{m},k)$ be a local Cohen-Macaulay ring with infinite residue field. Assume that $d=\dim A > 0$ and let $I$ be an $\mathfrak{m}$-primary ideal of $A$ with Ratliff-Rush closure $\widetilde{I}=\bigcup_{n \geq 1} (I^{n+1}:I^n)$. The main result of this paper shows the following: If $\widetilde{I^k}=I^k$ and $I$ has a minimal reduction $J$ such that $JI^{k+1}=I^{k+2}$, then $\widetilde{I^n}=I^n$ for all $n \geq k$. The author also proves that the length $\lambda(I^{n+1}/JI^n)$ associated with certain minimal reductions $J$ of the ideal $I$ is independent of $J$. The proofs make extensive use of the so-called \textit{tame superficial sequences}.
