The paper is devoted to the study of general Hermite and Laguerre 2D polynomials. The focus lies on one hand on the introduction of a general 2D matrix in the linear transformation of powers of the components of a 2D vector and on the other hand on the generation of Hermite (or Laguerre) polynomials by applying an integral operator to these powers. The paper closes with an addition theorem for Jacobi polynomials, which is related to the group multiplication in \(\text{GL}(2,\mathbb C)\).
