Let \(M\) be a closed spin manifold and \(N \subset M\) a submanifold of codimension 2 with some assumptions. \textit{M. Gromov} and \textit{H. B. Lawson} [Publ. Math., Inst. Hautes Étud. Sci. 58, 83--196 (1983; Zbl 0538.53047)] developed the obstruction to admit a Riemannian metric of positive scalar curvature by using an index on \(N\). The obstruction is refined by using the Rosenberg index \(\alpha (N) \in \mathrm{K}_{\ast}(C^{\ast}_{\mathrm{max}}\pi_{1}(N))\) of \(N\) by \textit{B. Hunke} et al. [Ann. Inst. Fourier 65, No. 6, 2681--2710 (2015; Zbl 1344.58012)]. \textit{Y. Kubota} [``The relative Mishchenko-Fomenko higher index and almost flat bundles. II: Almost flat index pairing'', Preprint; \url{arxiv:1908.10733}] proved the Rosenberg index \(\alpha (M) \in \mathrm{K}_{\ast}(C^{\ast}_{\mathrm{max}}\pi_{1}(M))\) of \(M\) is obstruction to positive scalar curvature metric on \(M\). More precisely, Kubota constructs a homomorphism \[ \rho_{M,N} : \mathrm{K}_{\ast}(C^{\ast}_{\mathrm{max}}\pi_{1}(M)) \to \mathrm{K}_{\ast - 2}(C^{\ast}_{\mathrm{max}}\pi_{1}(N)) \] mapping \(\alpha(M)\) to \(\alpha(N)\). In this paper, the authors give a slightly simplified construction of \(\rho_{M,N}\). Moreover, they apply this method to give a simpler proof of the main result of \textit{N. Higson} et al. [Geom. Topol. 22, No. 6, 3671--3699 (2018; Zbl 1401.19010)].
