The authors consider the 3D jerk system \begin{align*} & \dot{x}=y, \\ & \dot{y}=z, \\ & \dot{z}=-az-bx+cy+x{{y}^{2}}-{{x}^{3}};\quad (x,y,z)\in {{\mathbb{R}}^{3}}, \\ \end{align*} where \(a,b,c\in \mathbb{R}\) are system parameters. By applying averaging theory, the authors analyze the zero-Hopf bifurcation at the origin and prove the existence of bifurcating limit cycles depending on the system parameters. It was shown that up to three periodic orbits can be born at the equilibrium point.
