The paper refers to a nonlinear problem involving the wave equation with damping, initial conditions and acoustic boundary conditions. The purpose of the paper is to prove that in case the boundary structure mass is not negligible, the impenetrability equation does not have damping term and internal damping acts only over a subset of the domain, uniform decay rates for the energy of the stated problem can be obtained. Under some additional assumptions the existence and uniqueness of a solution is shown. The energy \(E(t)\) associated to the problem is defined and the main result in the paper is an estimation for \(E(t)\) by means of a decreasing to zero function \(S(t)\).
