The equation \(y(t)=g(t)+\int^{t}_{0}(t-s)^{- \alpha}K(t,s,y(s))ds,\quad 0\leq t\leq T,\quad 0<\alpha <1,\) with continuous functions g and K, is treated numerically by approximating \((t-s)^{-\alpha}\) by a linear combination of Chebyshev polynomials \(U_ n\) (1-2(t-s)) of second kind. Thus the weakly singular integral equation is replaced by one with a continuous kernel that can be approximately solved by standard methods. It is shown that arbitrarily high accuracy can be attained, and the method's principal applicability is demonstrated by a few (albeit linear) examples.
