The work is an improvement of the previous note of the first author \textit{A. Bradji} [in: Finite volumes for complex applications VII -- methods, theoretical aspects. Proceedings of the FVCA 7, Berlin, Germany, June 15--20, 2014. Vol. I. Cham: Springer. 149--157 (2014; Zbl 1305.65219)], which dealt with the convergence analysis of a finite volume scheme for the Poisson equation with a linear oblique derivative boundary condition. The paper is organized as follows. In Section 1, the problems to be solved and the description of the main results are given. In Section 2, a sense for the tangential and normal derivatives and a weak formulation of the problem are stated. In Section 3, the finite volume mesh as well as the discrete gradient and some known results are recalled. Even though the spatial domain is two dimensional, the definition of the finite volume mesh and the discrete gradient in several space dimensions is set. In Section 4, the approximation of Poisson's equation with oblique derivative boundary conditions is given. The finite volume scheme for this problem is constructed. The convergence results of this scheme are summarized in a theorem and corollary. How the results of this theorem and corollary can be extended to non-homogeneous mean value conditions, non-homogeneous oblique boundary conditions, and anisotropic heterogeneous diffusion equations with general oblique derivatives boundary conditions, is given in some remarks. The convergence of the finite volume approximate solution under weak regularity assumption on the exact solution is justified also in a remark. In Section 5, the approximation of the non-stationary heat equation with initial condition and oblique derivative boundary conditions is investigated. The discretization in time is also defined. The finite volume scheme for this problem and its convergence results are stated. The proof is based on a comparison with the auxiliary scheme and the new discrete a priori estimate. Some other possible schemes and discrete a priori estimates are sketched, respectively. A convergence result of a finite volume scheme (without a convergence rate) under weak regularity assumption on the exact solution is investigated in brief in a remark. Section 6 is devoted to some numerical tests. In Section 7, some perspectives to work on in the future and a summary of the obtained results are presented.
