The author considers Helmholtz' equation in an exterior domain \(\Omega\) where \(\Omega=\Gamma_1 \cup\Gamma_2\) and \(\Gamma_1\) resp. \(\Gamma_2\) consist of several smooth closed resp. non-closed curves (`cuts'). He uses integral equation methods to prove the existence. Reviewer's remark: The reader should be aware of parallel results by variational methods. See e.g. \textit{R. Leis} [Math. Z. 90, 205-211 (1965; Zbl 0132.33602)].
