An internet congestion control system model with single link and single source is studied. Using the positive gain parameter as a bifurcation parameter, the authors show that Hopf bifurcation occurs yielding a family of periodic orbits bifurcating from the network equilibrium. Both stability and direction of the bifurcating periodic orbits are investigated. Simulation results illustrate the theoretical results.
