In this paper, the authors investigate nonlinear fractional retarded differential equations. By using the method of steps, they study existence, uniqueness and the smoothness of the solution and analyze the structural stability of the problem. Next, they propose a multistep Legendre-Gauss-Radau collocation method for solving fractional retarded differential equations. This method is easy to be implemented for nonlinear problems and possesses the stability and spectral accuracy even for piecewise smooth solutions. Furthermore, the authors use the Gauss-type interpolation, which makes their method much more stable. The numerical results demonstrate the stability and the spectral accuracy of the proposed method. Numerical results also coincided with the theoretical analysis very well.
