The paper contains a research announcement of some results of the first part of the authors' monograph [\textit{M. Saito, B. Sturmfels} and \textit{N. Takayama}, ``Gröbner deformations of hypergeometric differential equations'', Algorithms and Computation in Math. 6. (Berlin 2000; see the preceding review Zbl 0946.13021)]. The main goal is to sketch an algorithmic method finding the solutions of a regular holonomic cyclic module, defined by an ideal \(I\) in the Weyl algebra over the field of complex numbers. The aim of the proposed algorithm is to compute first the (canonical) solution of \(\text{ in}_{(-w,w)}\) for a generic weight vector \(w \in {\mathbb R}^n\) and then to reconstruct the solution of the ideal \(I.\) The main result of the present paper giving a basis of the solutions of the regular holonomic ideal \(I\) is stated by an condition about the \(b\)-function associated to \(I.\) This is not necessary as shown by the authors in the book cited above; see theorem 2.5.14. Also this cited book gives a more detailed approach to the authors' results.
