In this article, the authors study spline spaces of non-uniform degree defined on T-meshes. They derive new combinatorial lower and upper bounds on the spline space dimension and subsequently outline sufficient conditions for the bounds to coincide. These results generalize the framework presented by \textit{B. Mourrain} [Math. Comput. 83, No. 286, 847--871 (2014; Zbl 1360.65052)] for uniform bi-degree splines on T-meshes.
