Let \(K\) be a CM-field. The author shows here that if \(K\) is Galois over \(\mathbb{Q}\) with cyclic or dicyclic Galois group of order \(2^kp\) with a prime \(p\), then every simple CM-type of \(K\) is nondegenerate. As a consequence, the Hodge conjecture is true for any abelian variety \(A\) with complex multiplication by \(K\) (every Hodge cycle of \(A\) is generated by some classes of divisors of \(A\) and thus algebraic). This extends results obtained by \textit{S. G. Tankeev} [Izv. Math. 63, No. 6, 1221--1262 (1999; Zbl 0962.14004); translation from Izv. Ross. Akad. Nauk, Ser. Mat. 63, No. 6, 167--208 (1999)] in the case \(p\) odd and \(k=2\), and by the present author [Ann. Math. Qué. 44, 165--171 (2020; Zbl 1456.11108)] in the case \(p=2\). Kida also proves in this paper a similar statement for certain non-Galois CM-fields.
