In this paper, the authors establish five theorems. The authors, by following [\textit{V. M. Kokilashvili}, Proc. A. Razmadze Math. Inst. 29, 183--189 (1963; Zbl 0138.28601)], establish first a theorem to obtain the estimates for the best approximation of a function \(F\) in the \(L^{p}\) space in terms of best approximation of a function \(f\) in the \(V_{p}\) space. A corollary is deduced from the first theorem for the fractional derivative \(f^{(r)} \in L^{p}\) and the sharpness of the result of this corollary is proved in the second theorem. The inequality between the modulus of continuity \(\omega_{k}\left(F,\frac{1}{n}\right)_{p}\) and the best approximation of the function \(f\) is proved in the third theorem. In the fourth theorem, the authors study the dual problem of estimating \(E_{n}(F)_{V_{p}}\) in therms of \(E_{i}(f)_{p}\). Another corollary is deduced from the fourth theorem for the fractional derivative \(f^{(r)} \in L^{p}\) and the sharpness of the result of this corollary is proved in the fifth theorem.
