Based on the computerized symbolic computation, the authors propose a generalized hyperbolic-function method for the solitonic solutions of certain nonlinear equations of mathematical physics. The algorithm is applicable to go: (a) beyond the solitary (or traveling) waves to see the solitonic features, (b) beyond the typical tanh series by considering other hyperbolic functions, (c) beyond the constant coefficients for the series by introducing coefficient functions.
