This paper presents five variations on Bailey's Lemma. They change the base in a Bailey pair from \(q\) to either \(q^2\) or \(q^3\). These lead to many new multi-sum Rogers-Ramanujan-type identities of which the following is representative: \[ \sum_{s,t \geq 0} {q^{3s^2+t^2+t}(q;q)_{3s-t} \over (q^3;q^3)_{2s} (q^3;q^3)_{s-t} (q^2;q^2)_t} = {(q^{10},q^4,q^6;q^{10})_{\infty} \over (q^3;q^3)_{\infty}}. \] They also provide explanations of many previously discovered multi-sum Rogers-Ramanujan-type identities, including the Melzer conjectures.
