In his former paper [Reliab. Comput. 4, No. 3, 223-234 (1998; Zbl 0917.65051)], the author presented a theorem containing sufficient conditions for both existence and uniqueness of solution of a system of nonlinear equations \(f(x)=0\), based on the second-derivative test of \textit{L. Qi} [SIAM J. Numer. Anal. 19, 851-857 (1982; Zbl 0506.65020)]. In the present paper the author states that the former proof of this theorem was erroneous (although the theorem itself was true), and gives a corrected proof of it.
