A particular class of Hamiltonian systems of three degrees of freedom is considered. These systems can be transformed to the problem of a pendulum driven by two periodic forces with incommensurate frequencies. The threshold of the break-up of an invariant torus of the unperturbed system with specific frequencies is evaluated by two independent methods: by the frequency map analysis and by renormalization group techniques. Strong numerical evidence is obtained, showing that the critical value of the coupling parameter for the divergence of the renormalization transformation coincides with the value given by the first method for the break-up of the torus. Numerical values for the threshold of break-up of the last invariant torus are also obtained.
