The authors consider a family of spatially semi-discrete approximations for hyperbolic and parabolic equations. The dependence of the error bounds on time as well as on the mesh size is investigated. The order of the overall convergence rate is determined for the hyperbolic and parabolic cases. Some numerical experiments are given for proving the validity of the established bounds.
