Delta operators (a concept of umbral calculus) are endomorphisms of the vector space \(K[x]\), \(K\) being a field with characteristic zero. The question addressed here is if delta operators are derivations of the usual polynomial ring \(K[x]\). It is stated that for each delta operator \(Q\), it is possible to define a suitable multiplication \(*\) in \(K[x]\) in a way that the structure \([K, K[x]; +, *, \text{ext}]\) is an algebra in which \(Q\) is a derivation, and that this derivation algebra is isomorphic to the usual polynomial algebra with the derivation \(D\). A complete classification of the isomorphisms between these two structures is provided leading to some generalization.
