Let \(R\) be a prime ring with noncommutative Lie ideal \(L\). For \(\beta\in\text{Der}(R)\), an additive \(d\colon R\to R\) is a \(\beta\)-derivation of \(R\) when \(d(xy)=d(x)y+\beta(x)d(y)\) for all \(x,y\in R\). For such a \(d\), a generalized \(\beta\)-derivation of \(R\) is an additive \(g\colon R\to R\) so that for all \(x,y\in R\), \(g(xy)=g(x)y+\beta(x)d(y)\). The main result shows that if for a fixed positive integer \(n\), \(g(x)^n=0\) for all \(x\in R\) then \(g=0\).
