In Finsler geometry, most of the geometric structures live on the tangent bundle of the configuration manifold, in other words they depend on both position and fiber coordinates. In the present paper, the author proposes a geometric theory of deformable solids with microstructure (which gives the fiber coordinates dependence of all geometric structures) using a Finslerian setting. The author uses this geometric setting to address some problems involving shear failure.
