An important problem in multivariate approximation schemes consists in the choice of knots and of the control points used in the tensor product. Starting with a mixed algebraic method based on a transfinite Hermite-type interpolant scheme and a B-spline tensor product method, the authors discuss about the choice of the B-splines knots and of the control points used in the tensor product. The choices are detailed in Section 3, where a discrete `uniformity' property to control the grid spacing is discussed. Section 4 contains some numerical examples which put in evidence how the grid spacing can be controlled by means of the discrete uniformity property.
