The authors consider the nonlinear equation \(F(x)=0\), where \(F:X\to Y\) is a mapping between two Banach spaces. Main results of the paper give sufficient conditions for the existence of a local solution of the above mentioned equation in both the regular (i.e., if an initial point \(x_0\) is given, then \(F'(x_0)X=Y\), \(F^{-1}(x_0)\) is a multivalued mapping, and \(\operatorname{Ker}F'(x_0)\neq\emptyset\)) and the \(p\)-regular (singular) case. The abstract tool of the proof is Nadler's contraction principle.
