The author clarifies and establishes some properties of homogeneous metric compacta related to closed separators of an \(n\)-dimensional homogeneous metric \(ANR\)-space. Following \textit{K. Yokoi} [Houston J. Math. 29, No. 2, 337--343 (2003; Zbl 1037.55001)], a compactum \(X\) is called an \((n,G)\)-\textsl{bubble} for an abelian group \(G\), if the Čech cohomology groups \({\check H}^n(X;G) \neq 0\) and \({\check H}^n(A;G)=0\) for every closed proper set \(A\subset X\). Clarifying a theorem of Yokoi, the author proves: If \(X\) is a homogeneous metric \(ANR\)-continuum with cohomological dimension \(\text{dim}_G X=n\) and \({\check H}^n(X;G) \neq 0\), for an abelian group \(G\), then \(X\) is an \((n,G)\)-bubble. \textit{S. T. Stefanov} [Serdica 12, 88--94 (1986; Zbl 0607.54021)] has introduced the notion of a strong \(V_G^n\)-continuum as a compactum \(X\) satisfying a rather technical partition property. Concerning this notion, the author proves: Any compactum \(X\) with \({\check H}^n(X;G) \neq 0\) contains a strong \(V_G^n\)-continuum.
