The system of a closed vortex filament is interpreted as a Hamiltonian system with an infinite sequence of constants of motion in involution. As phase space or Poisson manifold for this system the author uses the space of entirely curved loop (ECL). The periodic functions are introduced in an abstract manner and the connection to the integro-differential operators is emphasized. The algebraic objects, like Frénet frame along a curve, variational vector field, covariant derivative, Riemannian metric, are introduced in order to define the differential calculus on ECL. The geometric structure related to the integrability of the considered system is revealed. It is shown that this structure is not of bi-Hamiltonian type but of a similar one.
