The paper deals with a free boundary problem for Euler equations for one-dimensional isentropic gas with density-dependent viscosity \(\mu= b^\beta\), where \(b\) and \(\beta\) are positive constants, when the density function connects to a vacuum continuously on the boundary. For \(\beta< 5/37\), the author proves the global in time existence of a weak solution, including the stationary case. The proof is based on the discretization of the original system by the method of lines, for which the author establishes the convergence. The key tools are some a priori estimates, Sobolev inequality, and Helly's theorem.
