For a lattice \((L,\leq_L)\), an \(L\)-fuzzy set \(A\) on \(X\) is an \(X \rightarrow L\) mapping. For \(p\) in \(L\), the \(p\)-cut of \(A\) is the set \(A_p = \{x \in X| A(x) \geq_L p\}\). The main result of this theoretical paper is a necessary and sufficient condition under which two \(L\)-fuzzy sets \(A\) and \(B\) have equal families of cuts. This condition is expressed as the existence of an isomorphism between two sublattices of \(\mathcal{P}(L)\) that depend, respectively, on \(A\) and on \(B\). The example on p.~206--208 illustrates that, in the presence of incomparable membership degrees, the study of the equality of families of cut sets is not a straightforward extension of the earlier work on \([0,1]\)-fuzzy sets. For better understanding, the interested reader might also wish to consult the related paper by \textit{B. Šešelja} and \textit{A. Tepavčević} [Fuzzy Sets Syst. 136, No. 1, 1--19 (2003; Zbl 1020.06005)].
