The paper deals with inverse spectral and inverse scattering problems for the Sturm-Liouville (one-dimensional Schrödinger) equation on the half-line. It is well-known that in order to have uniqueness of solutions of these problems, one has to prescribe both a continuous part and a discrete part of the spectral (or scattering) data, the latter being the eigenvalues and associated norming constants. The authors show that the discrete part of data can be replaced by the information about the values of the potential and its derivatives, up to a certain order, at the end of the half-line. The proofs of the uniqueness theorems are based on the Gelfand-Levitan (or Marchenko) integral equations of the inverse problems combined with a statement concerning the Vandermonde matrices.
