Let D be a quaternionic algebra over a real quadratic number field and \(S^ K\) be a Shimura surface associated to D. We prove Tate's conjecture on algebraic cycles in \(S^ K\), namely, the Galois-subspace of the \(\ell\)-adic cohomology of \(S^ K\) is spanned by algebraic cycles and has a dimension equal to the order of pole of the L-function of \(S^ K\). We use a relative trace formula of Jacquet-Lai [\textit{H. Jacquet} and the author, C. R. Acad. Sci., Paris, Sér. I 296, 959-963 (1983; Zbl 0533.10028)] to transfer the result of Harder-Langlands-Rapoport to our case, otherwise we follow their proof of the same conjecture for Hilbert- Blumenthal surfaces.
