Mit \(N_ rPic A\) sei für einen kommutativen Ring A der Kokern der kanonischen Abbildung Pic \(A\to Pic(A[X_ 1,...,X_ r])\) bezeichnet. Sei \(A\subset B\) eine Erweiterung reduzierter kommutativer Ringe, \(^+_ BA\) der seminormale Abschluß von A in B und p eine Primzahl oder \(p=\infty\). Gezeigt wird: Die Gruppe \(\ker [N_ r Pic A\to N_ r Pic B]\) besitzt genau dann ein Element der Ordnung p, wenn dies für die (additive) Gruppe \(^+_ BA/A\) gilt. Im absoluten Fall, d.h. wenn B seminormal ist, kann diese Aussage direkt aus den Ergebnissen der Arbeit ''On seminormality'' von \textit{R. G. Swan} [J. Algebra 67, 210-229 (1980; Zbl 0473.13001)] abgeleitet werden. Man braucht nur noch die Tatsache zu verwenden, daß A in B p-seminormal genau dann ist, wenn \(^+_ BA/A\) keine p-Torsion hat (vgl. Proposition 2).
