Many authors have explored the spectral theory for various time-periodic, time almost-periodic, general nonautonomous and even random evolution equations. In this paper, the authors study the effect of time dependence or randomness on the principal spectrum of dispersal equations and investigate the extension of the principal eigenvalue theory for time-periodic parabolic problems to general dispersal ones.
