[For parts III, IV see ibid. 2, 159-182 and 183-191 (1979; Zbl 0418.10046 and Zbl 0418.10047)]. For given distinct nonzero integers \(a_ 1,...,a_ k\), and distinct integers \(b_ 1,...,b_ k\) let A(N) be the number of representations of N as \(N=p+n\) with p prime and \[ \alpha_ i(\log \log N)^{1/2}\quad <\quad \frac{\omega (p+a_ i)}{\log \log N}\quad <\quad \beta_ i(\log \log N)^{1/2}; \] \[ \gamma_ i(\log \log N)^{1/2}\quad <\quad \frac{\omega (n+b_ i)}{\log \log N}\quad <\quad \delta_ i(\log \log N)^{1/2}. \] An asymptotic formula for A(N) is proved, with dependence on \(\alpha_ i\), \(\beta_ i\), \(\gamma_ i\), \(\delta_ i\) being explicit. Among other tools the Bombieri-Vinogradov prime number theorem is used.
