    For an irrational number \(\alpha\) and f: \({\mathbb{R}}\to {\mathbb{R}}\) the skew product \(T_ f:\;{\mathbb{T}}\times {\mathbb{R}}\to {\mathbb{T}}\times {\mathbb{R}},\quad {\mathbb{T}}={\mathbb{R}}/{\mathbb{Z}},\) is defined by \(T_ f(x,y)=(x+\alpha,y+f(x)).\) Generalizing results of \textit{P. Hellekalek} and \textit{G. Larcher} [Isr. J. Math. 54, 301-306 (1986; Zbl 0609.28007); Theor. Comput. Sci. 65, No.2, 189-196 (1989; Zbl 0674.28008)], the author proves that if f is piecewise absolutely continuous, \(\int f d\mu =0,\) \(f'\) is Riemann integrable with \(\int f'd\mu \neq 0,\) then \(T_ f\) is ergodic.
