The authors define in a Banach algebra \(A\) for every \(\varepsilon\in A\) with \(\|\varepsilon\|\leq 1\) a new product \(\odot=\odot_\varepsilon\) by setting \(a\odot b=a\varepsilon b\) for every \(a, b\in A\). They substitute the usual multplication in \(A\) with \(\odot_\varepsilon\) and show that this multiplication turns \(A\) into a Banach algebra. The algebra \(A\) with the new multiplication \(\odot_\varepsilon\) is denoted by \(A_\varepsilon\). Several properties (e.g., the spectrum of an element \(a\) in \(A_\varepsilon\) equals the spectrum of \(a\) in \(A\); in the case of unital algebras, the sets of invertible elements in \(A\) and \(A_\varepsilon\) coincide, etc.) of \(A_\varepsilon\) are checked. The involution and derivation on \(A_\varepsilon\) and \(A\) are compared. It is shown that \(A\) and \(A_\varepsilon\) can have the same involution only in the case \(\|\varepsilon\|=1\). Also, the amenability and Arens regularity of \(A_\varepsilon\) are studied.
