The authors consider a special type of a WP-Bailey chain of \textit{G. E. Andrews} [NATO Sci. Ser. II, Math. Phys. Chem. 30, 1--22 (2001; Zbl 1005.33005)] and they use it to obtain several transformations for basic hypergeometric series. Also they derive two new WP-Bailey pairs which imply additional transformations for basic hypergeometric series. Then they consider the case of WP-Burge pairs (WP-Bailey pair \((a_n(p,k),b_n(p,k))\) in which \(a_n(p,k)\) does not depend on \(k\)) [see \textit{G. Andrews} and \textit{A. Berkovich}, J. Lond. Math. Soc., II. Ser. 66, No.~3, 529--549 (2002; Zbl 1049.33010)].
