In a Baire space \(X\), we say that \textit{most} (or \textit{typical}) elements of \(X\) have a property \(P\) if the set \(A\) of all \(x\in X\) possessing \(P\) is residual in \(X\), i.e., \(X\setminus A\) is of the first category in \(X\). In this paper, the authors apply Baire category techniques to investigate geometric properties of typical objects in a real separable Banach space \(E\). Among many interesting results, the following have been proved: (A) For most closed and bounded sets \(A \subseteq E\) and most \(u \in A\), the union of all rays from \(u\) that meet \(A\setminus \{u\}\) is dense in \(E\); (B) For most compacta \(K \subseteq E\) and most \(u\in K\), the union of all rays from \(u\) that meet \(K\setminus \{u\}\) is dense in \(E\); (C) For most convex compacta \(C\subseteq E\) and most \(u\in C\), the union of all rays from \(u\) that meet \(C\setminus \{u\}\) is dense in \(E\); (D) for most compacta \(K\subseteq E\) and \(u\in K\), the union of all rays from \(u\) meeting \(K\setminus \{u\}\) has closure which contains a half-space of \(E\). These extend some results of \textit{T. Zamfirescu} in [J. Math. Soc. Japan 57, No.~3, 701--708 (2005; Zbl 1101.54032)]. The authors' approach is essentially based on a parametric version of the Kuratowski-Ulam theorem. As an application, a well-known theorem of \textit{J. A. Wieacker} in [Math. Ann. 282, No.~4, 637--644 (1988; Zbl 0636.52004)] is generalized to infinite-dimensional spaces.
