A feedback design problem is posed based on the minimization of the \(H^{\infty}\)-norm of weighted combination of the sensitivity and complementary sensitivity matrices. A solution is obtained which makes use of the recently proposed \(H^{\infty}\)-methods for minimizing the sensitivity function alone. The same problem has been considered independently by \textit{B. A. Francis}, \textit{J. W. Helton} and \textit{G. Zames} [see the paper reviewed above] and a more general problem by \textit{J. Doyle} [see Proc. IEEE Conf. Decision Control, San Antonio, Texas (1983)]. In both cases the motivation and solution are different.
