The existence of a shock free supercritical flow is investigated using an integral equation formulation. The outcome is the same as that of earlier work using the hodograph method by \textit{C. S. Morawetz} [e.g.: Commun. Pure Appl. Math. 10, 107-131 (1957; Zbl 0077.189)]. However, the integral equation formulation can be extended to unsteady and three-dimensional flows.
