Equations describing nonlinear, long wavelength motions in a ducted weakly dissipative MHD system are derived and found to belong to a class of which the Benjamin-Ono-Burgers equation is a particular example. The slow decay of the solitary wave solutions is investigated. An illustration of the theory is provided by photospheric flux tubes on the Sun.
