This paper begins with an analysis of the open-mapping theorem which is similar to that given by Pták. However, the author takes a rather different direction than Pták did and this leads him to new, very natural generalizations of both the open-mapping and the closed-graph theorems. Two new classes of linear maps are defined in this paper and a study of these mappings lead to some new corollaries to certain well- known results of Dieudonné and Schwartz.
