In order to classify all eleven-dimensional homogeneous spacetimes which contain a 7-dimensional compact subspace and admit a simple-transitive group of symmetry the complete list (30) of the distinct real 10-dimensional Lie algebras which contain an \(n\)-dimensional \((n\geq 7)\) compact real Lie subalgebra is obtained. In accordance with the Levi-Mal'tsev decomposition \(L=N+)S\) where \(+)\) denotes semidirect sum, \(N\) is the maximal solvable ideal and \(S\) is the semisimple subalgebra, the following four possibilities are analyzed: \[ M_1+)S_9,\ N_2+)su(3),\ N_ 4+)S_6,\ N_7+)S_3. \] In the Appendix, the 9-dimensional real Lie algebras are also briefly considered. The results of the present paper may be useful for Kaluza-Klein, supergravity and superstring theories.
