Let \(B\) denote a Borel subgroup in a semi-simple algebraic group \(G\) over a field of characteristic \(p\). In this paper the author shows how some of the fundamental properties of induction from \(B\) to \(G\) carry over to the infinitesimal case (where the groups are replaced by Frobenius kernels). For instance, he proves that also in the infinitesimal case the induction is a composite of rank 1 induction. He constructs intertwines between the induced modules coming from different Borel subgroups, and he demonstrates how to derive the very strong linkage principle using these. Finally he obtains an upper bound on the character of the irreducible \(G\)-modules.
