Let \(\sum^\infty_{n=0} A_n(x)\) denote the Fourier series of \(f\in L_{2\pi}\) at a point \(x\) and let \(s_n(f;x)\) denote the partial sum of its first \((n+1)\) terms. Also write \[ s^*_n(f;x)= s_{n-1}(f;x)+ {1\over 2} A_n(x), \] \[ \phi_x(u)= {1\over 2}\{f(x+u)+ f(x-u)- 2f(x)\},\quad \chi_x(u)= \int^\pi_u\phi_x(w){1\over 2}\text{ cot }{1\over 2} w dw, \] \[ T_n(f;x)={1\over 2} c_0+ \sum^n_{k=1} (s^*_k(f;x)-f(x))/k,\quad\text{where }c_0= {2\over \pi}\int^\pi_0 \phi_x(u) {1\over 2} u\text{ cot }{1\over 2} u du. \] Earlier, the present reviewer studied the degree of approximation problem for Fourier series by Euler means in Hölder metric and proved the following: Theorem 1. If \(0\leq\beta<\alpha\leq 1\) and \(f\in H_\alpha\), then \[ |E^q_n(f)- f|_\beta= O\{n^{\beta-\alpha}\log n\}, \] where \(E^q_n(f;x)\) denotes the \((E,q)\)-mean of \(\{s_n(f;x)\}\). In the present paper, the authors have obtained the rate of convergence of the \((E,q)\)-mean of \[ {1\over 2} c_0+ \sum^\infty_{n=1}{s^*_k(f;x)-f(x)\over n} \] by \(\chi_x(N)\) in the Hölder metric and proved the following: Theorem 2. If \(0\leq\beta<\alpha\leq 1\) and \(f\in H_\alpha\), then \[ |E^q_n(T_nf)- \chi_x(N)|_\beta= O\{n^{\beta-\alpha}(\log n)^{1+\beta/\alpha}\}, \] where \(N=\pi(1+q)/n\) and \(E^q_n(T_nf;x)\) denotes the \((E,q)\)-mean of \(\{T_n(f;x)\}\). Misprint: Throughout the paper, read \(|\cdot|_c\) for \(|\cdot|\).
