This paper is mainly concerned with behaviour of the spectral radius function of positive operators on ordered Banach spaces. Two appropriate examples are constructed to show how the function above may fail from being non-decreasing on positive operators on an ordered Banach space whose positive cone fails from being normal and generating. Besides, another example is provided to show (together with one of the two above) how a positive operator that is dominated by a compact one on an ordered Banach space which has a normal and generating positive cone, but is not a vector lattice (respectively, which is a vector lattice, but whose positive cone is not normal), may have no compact iterates.
