The author refers to some of his earlier results along with new remarks and open problems in the subject of finite sums decomposition of functions and the Wronskian determinant. The article has been essentially inspired by the recent valuable book of \textit{Th. M. Rassias} and \textit{J. Šimša} [``Finite sums decompositions in mathematical analysis'' (1995; Zbl 0859.26005)] in which one can find the classical results along with current research in a single unfied source. In the paper the author considers the local linear dependence. The necessary and sufficient conditions in order to \(f\) has the form \(f(x,y)= \sum^n_{k=1} f_k(x) g_k(y)\) in relation to the Wronskian matrix are presented. He also presents some interesting remarks about some results contained in the above book. For recent new results in this subject the reader is referred to the papers by \textit{A. Prástaro} and \textit{Th. M. Rassias} [J. Comput. Appl. Math. 113, No. 1-2, 93-122 (2000; Zbl 0936.35011); C. R. Acad. Sci., Paris, Sér. I, Math. 328, No. 5, 389-394 (1999; Zbl 0931.35031)].
