The classical relation in set theory \(A=(A\cap B)\cup(A\cap B^ c)\) has motivated the study of various functional equations in the framework of fuzzy sets theory. In this paper the author solves the equation \(x=T(F(x,y),F(x,n(y)))\) where \(x,y\) are arbitrary real numbers in [0,1], and the unknowns are a \(t\)-norm \(T\), a strong negation \(n\) and an aggregation function \(F\). The general solution found is given by \(T(x,y)=t^{(-1)}(t(x)+t(y))\), \(n(x)=t^{-1}(1-t(x))\), \(F(x,y)=t^{-1}(G(t(x),t(y)))\), where \(t\) is any continuous strictly decreasing function from [0,1] into \(\mathbb{R}^ +\) such that \(t(0)=1\), \(t(1)=0\), \(t^{(-1)}\) is the pseudo-inverse of \(t\) and \(G\) is an arbitrary aggregation function satisfying \(G(x,y)+G(x,1- y)=x\). The last class of functions is also described.
