Stably density-stratified and nonstratified flows in a channel past a pair of symmetrical closed-streamline vortices on the channel axis are considered. The numerical results obtained cover the whole range of subcritical stratification and eddy lengths. An asymptotic solution for a very long closed-streamline region is found. The results can be used directly in the asymptotic theory of separated flows at high Reynolds number.
