A space that is normal and not countably paracompact is called a Dowker space. This paper is a continuation of the author's papers [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 292, 519-530 (1985; Zbl 0605.54008), Topology Appl. 36, No. 3, 253-264 (1990; Zbl 0718.54022)], showing that \(\diamondsuit\) (CH) implies that a product \(X\times Y\) can be Dowker without either \(X\) or \(Y\) being Dowker. In this paper it is shown that \(\diamondsuit\) implies that there is a perfectly normal space \(X\) such that \(X \times X\) is Dowker.
