Limit matrices for the Toda flow and periodic flags for loop groups (Q1318096): Difference between revisions

Isospectral manifolds of periodic Jacobi matrices form affine manifolds, realisable as \{hyperelliptic Jacobians\(\setminus\)translates of the theta-divisor\}. Can the whole Jacobian, rather than an affine part of it be parametrized by isospectral matrices? According to this work, there is an appropriate conjugation of the Jacobi matrices, for which the limits near the boundary make sense and can be computed; both the conjugation and the limit depend on where you are on the boundary. These limits can be classified by realising the periodic Toda flows as holomorphic flows on periodic flag manifolds and by characterizing the various Birkhoff strata visited by the flow in the flag manifold.
